Perfect camping weather, strong line-up highlight Beanstock Fall Music

A soft, autumn breeze swept through rustling leaves of a tall ash tree Saturday,
providing the perfect background track to another successful Beanstock Fall
Music Festival.
The performer onstage did a Townes Van Zandt cover. Then, in a voice slightly
reminiscent of the late, great Steve Goodman, David Byboth played one of
his own creations, a solemn tune about "takin' in strays of the human kind."
Something tells me Townes and Steve would have approved.
Spectacular fall camping weather and another interesting line-up of talent
greeted acoustic music fans this past weekend for the Beanstock 2005 Fall
Music Festival at Coyote Ridge Ranch. Held every spring and fall in the
beautiful whiterock-laced rolling hills just south of Tom Bean, Texas, this
event gave North Texans a chance to enjoy scenic campsites and musicians
like Tracy Merchant, Victor Andrada and The Transcenders on Friday and almost
a dozen performers during a full day of music Saturday.
Jay Johnson was the headliner on Saturday, with Jayson Bales, Jack Hardesty,
Ken Gaines and Jason Eady taking turns on the stage from 5:00 p.m. until
9:00 p.m.
The entertainment first got underway on Saturday with David and Christi
Hansel at 1:00 p.m., followed by Jim Bush and David Byboth.
Gordy Quist, one of the talented young guns on the Texas music scene, took
the Beanstock stage at 4:00 p.m. Quist knows how to tell the story...and
then hitch it to a melody that tells the story, too.
